Yamaha Stoner Nips Rossi For Misano Pole

23 03 2008

Today,

Australian hot shoe Casey Stoner did it again, nipping main championship rival for this year’s crown by 0.176 seconds to land the San Marino Grand Prix pole. The 13th round of the MotoGP series is being contested on the Autodromo di Misano circuit in Italy — home country to the five-time champion Valentino Rossi.

The current points leader laid down a fast lap of 1:33.918 on a track that was flooded just yesterday when a heavy storm hit the area prior to the second practice session. Stoner and his fellow competitors in the Continental Circus ended up coming to the track today to run a two-hour practice session prior to qualifying.

"We haven’t turned all my poles so far this year into wins. I’d like to think we could do that tomorrow but I think it’s going to be a very hard race - nobody’s really got the ideal setting because we’ve all had only a small amount of time and experience on this track," Stoner said. "Also, yesterday’s rain forced the cancellation of the afternoon session, with an extra hour added on to this morning’s session, so everything’s been a bit messed up."

New Actions Battery Tender Junior - Street Chopper’s Toolbox

21 03 2008

Today,

Battery Tender Junior - Street Chopper’s Toolbox
Battery Tender Junior - Street Chopper's Toolbox - Street Chopper Magazine

There are thousands of new tools made by hundreds of tool manufacturers. Some of these tools are extremely specific, some work on a variety of parts, others are straight out of a catalog, and a few are handmade, but all of them can make your life easier. Each month, STREET CHOPPER will feature a new tool that will help builders of all calibers, from garage to professional, get their bikes finished faster and with less hassle.

BatterytenderIf you are looking for a way to keep your bike’s battery alive and far from the grave, doing some maintenance on it is a good place to start. Keeping the battery at a full charge will make it easy to fire the bike anytime you are ready to go for a ride. The main cause of battery death occurs when the charge falls below 9.6 amps. Then when you go to hit the start button, the battery does not have the charge to kick the motor over. Moreover, the battery pulls the last few amps that it has, and then it just stops. Your best bet to prevent this is to start and run the bike everyday. But if you can’t do that, the next best thing is to keep it on a tender. This will keep the battery at a full charge all the time as long as the battery tender is plugged in and connected to the battery.

There is a full line of tenders for everything from big rigs down to farm and lawn equipment. Since you are reading a motorcycle magazine, we will start with the tender that is going to benefit you. Pictured here is the Battery Tender Junior. (It is much more than a trickle charger; we will just say it has a brain.) The Battery Tender Junior is lightweight, compact, fully automatic, and very user-friendly, especially in small spaces. It will keep your battery fully charged so it is ready to go when you are. Choose between 12-volt and 6-volt models, both with 750-amp output. The Junior retails for around $40. Check out all the details below.

Carmichael’s Final Ride At The U.S. Open Next Week

AURORA, Ill. (August 31, 2007) - Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael, of Tallahassee, Fla., announced today that he will close out his 2007 farewell season by racing in the 10th Annual Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena October 12-14. Carmichael is the only racer in history to participate at every Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open since its inception in 1997.

“Ricky Carmichael has had a remarkable career that includes five AMA Supercross titles, one FIM World Supercross GP title and three U.S. Open titles,” said Todd Jendro, senior director of supercross, Live Nation. “As he completes his 2007 farewell tour, it’s only fitting that his final U.S. appearance will be at the prestigious Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open, giving supercross fans one final opportunity to see Carmichael compete in the U.S.”

“I’m looking forward to racing the U.S. Open because it is a fun event,” said Carmichael. “I’m happy to be finished with chasing championships and look forward to racing at unique events like the (U.S.) Open. I always look forward to racing in Vegas. I have competed every year at the U.S. Open and want to keep the streak alive. I can’t believe that it’s the 10th Anniversary of the U.S. Open. It seems like just yesterday when I raced at the very first one”.

Carmichael has won three U.S. Open titles - more than any other rider in history - and has his sights on an unprecedented fourth title before going into retirement. Carmichael, who is the all-time winningest racer in AMA history with 15 National Championships, earned his last U.S. Open in 2005 when he swept both nights of racing.

CBS Sports will once again broadcast a 90-minutes television package of the 10th Annual Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open Sunday, October 20, from 1:30-3:00 p.m. EST.

More exciting announcements about the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open will be made shortly. Stay tuned to www.ussx.com for more news and information.
