New Updated Yamaha Announces 2008 Off-road Race Teams

29 12 2007

Today,

Yamaha Announces 2008 Off-Road Race Teams

Cypress, California, November 15, 2007 - Yamaha Motor Corporation is pleased to introduce our factory supported Off-Road race teams for the 2008 Off-Road season.

Randy Hawkins’ AM-Pro team of Barry Hawk, Jason Raines and Thad DuVall will focus their attention on the 13 race GNCC series while also competing in select OMA, AMA Hare Scrambles and Endurocross events.

Eight-time GNCC Champion and 2007 GNCC XC-1 Class runner up, Barry Hawk will once again focus on going after a ninth GNCC title aboard his 2008 YZ250.

After returning from a broken leg earlier in the season Jason Raines finished out the season in style by winning his third AMA Hare Scrambles title aboard a 2007 WR450F.

The youngster on the team Thad DuVall showed blazing speed winning two GNCC events this year in the XC-2 class.

Contesting the West Coast based WORCS series and select AMA Nationals will be Bobby Garrison. Bobby struggled with an ankle injury early in 2007 but came back to win two WORCS events by the end of the year. Runner-up in the series in 2006, Bobby will be a serious threat to win his first WORCS title aboard his 2008 YZ450F.

“Randy Hawkins puts together a great effort with his AM Pro Racing Team and Bobby Garrison is a serious contender. I like our odds for the 2008 season,” explains Yamaha’s Racing Off-Road Coordinator Donnie Luce.

New Action Team Reynard Modifications/rockstar Suzuki Joins Toyota Ama Arenacross Series Tour

28 12 2007

Today,

Team Reynard Modifications/Rockstar Suzuki Joins Toyota AMA Arenacross Series Tour

AURORA, Ill. (Nov. 1, 2007) - With some unfinished business he must attend to - namely a Toyota AMA Arenacross Series championship that slipped through his fingers last year - racing legend Robbie Reynard returns to the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series with Team Reynard Modifications/Rockstar Suzuki, along with fellow Oklahoma racer Cory Green and California’s Brandon Jones.

The Reynard Mod/Rockstar Suzuki team will open the 2007-2008 Toyota AMA Arenacross Series season this Friday (Nov. 2) at Des Moines’ (Iowa) Wells Fargo Arena.

Reynard, who turned 30 this past summer, will not only boot up and race the entire Toyota AMA Arenacross Series - with all sights being set on winning the overall title - but he’ll also take on the team manager duties.

“We had a great run last year and came up just a little short,” said Reynard. “We are excited about this season, the new team and the new Reynard Mods/Rockstar Suzuki bikes.”

In terms of the managerial duties, something that was handled in the past by Reynard’s father, Rob Sr., the younger Reynard is looking forward to taking that next step in the sport. “We have been given a great opportunity with Rockstar Suzuki this year,” he said. “We just received the bikes two weeks ago and the RM-Z250 can win races right out of the crate. But my dad at Reynard Modifications had some tricks up his sleeve and has made these bikes flat out fly! We are excited about the season, and can’t wait to get things rolling in Des Moines.”

Joining Robbie on the Reynard Mods/Rockstar Suzuki team is Cory Green. With two overall wins and several additional podium finishes, Cory finished third in the Lites division of the 2006-`07 Toyota AMA Arenacross Series. Green is a hard-charger and is said to be adjusting quickly to his new Suzuki. “The bike really fits my riding style, and I immediately felt at home on the RM-Z250,” said Green.

Californian Brandon Jones is the third member of the team and has joined Reynard and Green in Oklahoma. “Fortunately Robbie had an arenacross track built on his property, so the team has been able to test and practice with the new bikes,” said Jones. “We are ready to race!”

New Scooters Toyota On Board Again As Title Sponsor For Upcoming 2007-08 Toyota Ama Arenacross Series Season

Toyota On Board Again As Title Sponsor For Upcoming 2007-08 Toyota AMA Arenacross Series Season

AURORA, Ill. (Nov 1, 2007) - Live Nation’s Motor Sports division announced today that Toyota will return as the title sponsor of the 2007-2008 Toyota AMA Arenacross Series beginning with the Nov. 2-4 Des Moines, Iowa, opener and running through the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series finals in Green Bay, Wisc., March 14-16.

Fans of Toyota AMA Arenacross will continue to see a great presence from Toyota - both behind the scenes and during the evening pro-race activities and Sunday amateur racing programs. This year Toyota will offer a photo opportunity so fans can take home a souvenir of their race experience and give-away a Toyotacross Prize Pack during the Friday and Saturday main events. All fans in attendance can enter-to-win at any of the Toyota kiosks on the concourse. And as always Toyota will continue to support the athletes with a rider lounge and catering for the both nights, as well as Sunday’s amateur day

“Toyota has become synonymous with the sport of professional arenacross racing, and Live Nation Motor Sports is eager to assist Toyota in moving forward with its brand recognition goals through the title sponsorship of the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series,” said Todd Jendro, Senior Director, Two Wheel Operations for Live Nation Motor Sports. “Our fan base with the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series is extremely brand loyal, and we’ve received nothing but positive feedback over the past two seasons in regards to Toyota as the title sponsor of the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series.”

As mentioned by Jendro, the correlation between pick-up trucks and dirt bikes is a highly recognizable lifestyle image, paramount with the much-sought-after action sports demographic. Toyota believes in this and delivers a product line that is as bold, rugged and competitive as the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series racers themselves.

“Toyota is looking forward to being the AMA Arenacross title sponsor for the third year in a row,” said Paul Czaplicki, Engagement Marketing Manager for Toyota. As another season of great racing and exciting competition are upon us, Toyota is proud to support such a great sport and its fans, and to present the 2008 champion with a brand new Toyota Tacoma at the end of the season.”

In addition to supporting the popular motorsport as the title sponsor, Toyota will - for the third consecutive year - reward the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series’ overall champion with a brand-new Toyota Tacoma truck at the Green Bay finals. Past winners include Chad Johnson (2006) and Danny Smith (2007).

“It’s all about fun with Toyota at the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series events,” said Jayme Dalsing, director of arenacross for Live Nation. “We’ll have the Toyota Tacoma truck for fans to check out, Toyota Arenacross register-to-win booths where fans have a chance to win all sorts of cool prizes and, of course, the new Toyota Certified Fan Challenge.”

Tickets for Nov. 2-4 Toyota AMA Arenacross at Wells Fargo Arena are available through www.arenacross.com , at the Wells Fargo Arena Ticket Office, online at www.dahlstickets.com , all Des Moines-area Dahl’s Grocery Stores or charge by phone at 1-866-55-DAHLS. New Motocross Malaysian Motogp: Yamaha Tech 3 Race Report

26 12 2007

Today,

Malaysian malaise for Dunlop Yamaha Tech 3

The Malaysian Grand Prix held in stifling conditions at the Sepang circuit near Kuala Lumpur did not provide the results the team was expecting. After travelling from the cold climes of southern Australia in early spring to the humidity of the tropics, Casey Stoner continued his dominant form in 2007 with another victory. As has been the case many times this year, variable weather conditions in practice combined with problems associated with a newly laid surface guaranteed that the weekend would be far from plain sailing. For the first time this season neither of the Dunlop Yamaha Tech 3 Team riders, Sylvain Guintoli and Makoto Tamada were able to score any championship points. Makoto Tamada - Position: 18thTime: +59.596 That was a very hard race and it has been a very hard weekend to find something but we never could get there. Friday and Saturday were very difficult but we seemed to find something this morning that we thought would work but again we were wrong. During the race the grip level was very low and didn’t seem to improve during the race.
